The Notice Board
The Notice Board is a permanent fixture on the Realm tab — a plank of real wood with a hand-lettered title and stapled parchment notes, sitting right below the State of the Realm strip. Its one job is to tell you something is coming before it arrives: a countdown, a line of flavor text, a hint that the fog is about to move again.
It arrived with Trials of the Realm on August 17th, but it isn't part of Trials — it's realm furniture, a permanent structure that will carry word of every future drop for as long as the realm stands.
Where To Find It
Realm tab → directly under the State of the Realm strip, above the CHRONICLE / HALL view tabs. You can't miss it — it's the only thing on the Realm tab that looks like it was nailed together by hand rather than rendered by a database query.
How It Works
Each note stapled to the board can carry a line of text, a footer, and a countdown target. When a countdown is set, the footer fills itself in automatically as the date approaches — "in 6 days," then "in 2 days," then "on the morrow," then simply "today." Once the date passes, the countdown line quietly disappears; the board doesn't dwell on the past.
The Notice Board is a Game Master surface — Nick updates it directly, without needing to ship an app update. That's the whole point of it: he can post a teaser for next Monday's drop on a random Tuesday without touching a line of code. Consider it the realm's version of a bulletin board outside the tavern, except the tavern is a Postgres table.
Notes & Tips
- The board can go quiet between drops — an empty board doesn't mean nothing's coming, it means Nick hasn't written the note yet.
- Notes are deliberately vague. The realm likes to tease, not spoil. Don't expect the board to name a system before it exists.
- If the board ever looks broken or blank, that's by design too — a bad note simply fails to render rather than breaking the Realm tab. The world keeps turning either way.
An earlier draft of this board wore teal. Then it wore a small wax seal, also teal. As of the August 17th release, the board carries a gold title and zero cyan of any kind — the wiki is reliably informed this was a deliberate design ruling and not, as the revision history briefly suggested, five separate opinions from the same person about the same six inches of wood. The seal was removed in round five. There is no round six planned. The wiki will update this note if that changes, and reserves the right to be smug about it.
