Stats & Skill Points
Your character has six stats. Each one is upgraded by spending Skill Points — earned from leveling up, achievements, and occasional rare loot drops. Stats never decrease permanently; they can only be suppressed temporarily by certain debuffs. Allocate points from the Grace tab.
The Six Stats
| Stat | Effect Per Skill Point | Color |
|---|---|---|
| +3 max HP and +25% to your nightly macro bonus | Red | |
| +10% Runes from every workout (rest days not included) | Green | |
| +3% weapon damage vs bosses | Orange | |
| +1% all Rune earnings | Blue | |
| +0.05 Ember earned per day | Gold | |
| ×1.035 loot drop rate (compounds per point) | Purple |
Stat Descriptions
Vigor
The hunter's stat: tougher, and your nightly macro bonus pays more. Every point of Vigor does two things. It adds 3 HP to your ceiling — on top of the +2 HP per level you already earn automatically — and it raises your nightly macro bonus by 25%. At Vigor 4 your macro bonus pays double; at Vigor 10 it pays three and a half times as much. Higher Vigor also means more buffer against boss counterattacks, longer survival during neglect periods, and a bigger Flask restore in absolute terms (since Flask restores a percentage of max HP). The Runes Vigor adds show on the macro bonus line of the Ledger.
Endurance
The athlete's stat: every workout pays more. Each point of Endurance adds 10% to the Runes from every workout you log. At Endurance 5 a workout pays 50% more; at Endurance 10 it pays double. Rest days are not included — a logged rest day earns no Endurance bonus. Endurance no longer touches the Flask, which now restores a flat 10% of your max Vigor.
Strength
Deals more damage to your weekly boss. Every point adds 3% to weapon damage. At Strength 10 your weapon hits 30% harder against every boss, every week. Boss kills are the largest Rune source in the game — faster kills mean more weekly windfalls. Offensive investment that directly supports the primary progression loop.
Dexterity
Increases all Rune earnings by 1% per point. At Dexterity 20 you earn 20% more Runes from everything — tasks, workouts, meals, boss kills. Compounds with the Ember multiplier. Late-game Dexterity investment at high Ember multiplier creates significant daily earnings differences. The most broadly useful stat for long-term progression.
Faith
Grows your Ember faster. Each point adds 0.05 Ember per day on top of the base Grace-based growth. At Faith 10, you earn an additional +0.5 Ember daily regardless of Grace level — equivalent to a free Flickering day every day. Ember drives your Rune multiplier, so Faith investment compounds over time. The longest-term stat — its value builds slowly and pays off most after months of play.
Faith is the sleeper stat. It does almost nothing on day one. By month six it is paying dividends on every single thing you do. It rewards patience and consistency above all else, which makes it the ideal stat for a game about habits and the worst stat for someone who opened the Skill Point allocation screen instead of completing their Tier 2 tasks. Not that anyone has done this. This is simply a theoretical concern.
Arcane
Multiplies your loot drop rates by ×1.035 per point — the effect compounds, so 20 points roughly doubles every rate. Loot drops can include Skill Points, Flask charges, Grace Wards, boss-weakening items, and Legendary consumables. High Arcane increases the frequency of these drops from tasks and boss kills. Best paired with consistent play — more drops only matter if you're completing enough tasks and killing enough bosses to trigger them.
Skill Points
Skill Points are earned from:
- Every level up — 1 Skill Point per level
- Class promotion levels (6, 11, 16, 21…) — bonus Skill Point on top of the normal level reward
- Certain achievements — Legendary tier achievements only (plus four of the hidden ones)
- Rare loot drops — occasional drops from the item pool
Unspent Skill Points are visible on the Grace tab. Tap the SKILL POINTS button to open the SPEND POINTS popup and add points to any stat. The + and − buttons only stage your picks; nothing is saved until you tap CONFIRM, which applies all your pending allocations at once. Cancel (or close the popup) and nothing is spent.
Respec
You can reallocate all your Skill Points at any time for 100,000 Runes. This returns every invested point to unspent and lets you rebuild your allocation from scratch. No limit on uses — but the cost is real. A free respec is available via a Larval Tear (Rare loot drop). When Vigor and Endurance changed, every Tarnished was also given one free Larval Tear in their Pouch, so you can rebuild your stats around the new Vigor and Endurance if you want to.
The respec flow has a two-gate safety check — you won't accidentally spend Runes or consume a Larval Tear by tapping the wrong thing. You can cancel at any point before the final confirmation with no cost.
Notes & Tips
- Vigor investment pays off most at early levels when your HP pool is small and boss damage is proportionally more dangerous. Consider front-loading it. It also pays Runes back every night you hit your macros, since it raises the macro bonus.
- Endurance is for people who work out. It boosts the Runes from every workout you log and does nothing on a rest day.
- Faith is the sleeper stat. Its effect is small per point but it compounds daily and never stops paying. Long-term players with high Faith investment pull significantly ahead on Ember.
- Dexterity stacks multiplicatively with your Ember multiplier. At the 2.4x Ember cap and Dexterity 20, you're earning ~2.9x base Rune values effectively.
- Respec is available but costs real Runes — don't stress too much about early allocation decisions, but don't be reckless either.
