Trials of the Realm
Trials of the Realm is the first content drop of the post-launch era — the moment the app stops being a finished thing you log into and starts being a world that occasionally hands you something new. It shipped on Monday, August 17th, 2026, on a double-rune day, and it's the template every future drop will follow: new content, and a Notice Board line that warned you it was coming.
Daily Quests & Weekly Trials
Trials of the Realm adds two new slots to your board: a Daily Quest, dealt fresh every night, and a Weekly Trial, dealt every Monday and judged over the full week. Both are the realm asking for something a little outside your normal routine — extra pushes, not more of what you were already doing.
The realm keeps track of what you already do. If you've hit a given quest's target on 60% or more of the last two weeks, it won't deal you that one — it isn't interested in handing you credit for your normal Tuesday. Quests are meant to feel like a genuine stretch, not a rerun.
| Daily Quest Tier | Reward Range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Effort | 5,000 – 7,000 | The everyday stretch |
| Push | 8,000 – 12,000 | A bigger ask |
| Trial | 13,000 – 16,000 | Genuinely hard |
| Ordeal | 20,000 – 25,000 | Rare, and always pays out loot too |
Weekly Trials pay 14,000–20,000 Runes, or up to 35,000 for the rare "Crucible" tier.
Drew a Weekly Trial you cannot win? The Cartkeeper sells the Writ of Reassignment (Common, a flat 4,000 Runes at every class — the one ware the class band never touches, because the trial it gambles on pays a flat reward — merchant-exclusive; see Merchant Wares). Use it and your current Weekly Trial is struck from the ledger; the realm deals a fresh one from the full weekly pool at the next 2am dawn, judged over the whole week from Monday like any other. Three rules: once per week, never on a Sunday (the replacement would land in the new week), and whatever progress you had on the old trial is abandoned. The struck trial is never judged and never pays.
Using the Writ leaves a receipt — "Item used: Writ of Reassignment" shows up in the Ledger under its USED filter, same as any other consumable use. Use it on a Friday or Saturday and it warns you first: a trial dealt that late still has to be judged Sunday night like every other Weekly Trial, so the runway is short. Try it on a Sunday and the clerks simply refuse — the replacement would land in the new week.
The Key of the Realm
An Uncommon-tier consumable (re-rated from Rare on September 2, 2026, so its Cartkeeper price sits below what a Key quest pays) — it drops the same way any other Uncommon item does: task completions, workouts, boss kills, the usual loot rolls (see Loot & Equipment for exact odds), and the Cartkeeper stocks it too. No special source, no guaranteed drop — just the ordinary Uncommon pool. Use one on any day to unlock one extra hidden quest for that day only, drawn from its own pool of thirteen:
| Reward | Quests in the pool |
|---|---|
| 15,000 Runes | 5 |
| 17,500 Runes | 4 |
| 20,000 Runes | 2 |
| 25,000 Runes | 2 |
Every Key quest pays 15,000 – 25,000 Runes, and every one of them pays a guaranteed loot drop on top of the Runes — there's no dud draw. One of the thirteen is The Realm's Champion, which asks for a real cardio session or a real lift session, plus a Tier 3 task — which is, suspiciously, almost exactly what a certain Game Master already does most mornings. The wiki isn't accusing anyone of building a Trial around his own routine. The wiki is simply noting the coincidence for the record.
Drop 0.5 — Fourteen New Trials
Drop 0.5 adds fourteen Trials to the realm's decks: eleven Daily Quests, one Key quest and two Weekly Trials. They are dealt by the same rules as every other Trial.

The Key Quest
One new Trial joins the Key of the Realm's pool (see above). It pays loot on top of its Runes, like every Key quest.
| Trial | Tier | The Ask | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Sealed Vault The Key opens a vault. The vault asks for nine deeds in return. | Trial | Check off 9 or more TIER 1, TIER 2 or TIER 3 tasks today (Weekly and Companion tasks don't count). | 20,000 Runes + loot |
Weekly Trials
Both are judged over the full week, Monday to Sunday, and both pay loot on top of their Runes.
| Trial | Tier | The Ask | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| Four Fires Four golden nights in one week. The Erdtree leans closer. | Ordeal | Finish 4 days this week at Blazing Grace. | 25,000 Runes + loot |
| The Unbroken Week Seven nights, no cold hearth. The week bends to you. | Ordeal | Finish all 7 days this week at Burning Grace or better. | 35,000 Runes + loot |
How They Are Dealt
- The first eight Daily Quests each ask for one specific task from your own board, named in the ask. A Trial is only dealt to you if that task is on your board for the day, and these eight skip the Stretch Filter.
- The Second Rank is only dealt on a day your board holds at least four Tier 2 tasks.
- The Dozen Deeds and The Sealed Vault count Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 tasks only (Weekly and Companion tasks don't count), and neither is dealt when your board holds fewer tasks than it asks for.
- The Long Vigil is only dealt if workouts count toward your Day Quality Score, and a logged rest day never counts toward it.
- Four Fires is held back from anyone who has not had a single Blazing night in the last three weeks.
New-Content Days
Every drop lands on a double-rune day — every task you complete that day, daily or weekly or companion, pays out at 2×. Boss damage moves with it stride for stride, since damage is derived straight from the Runes you actually earned. If you're carrying a Double Runes consumable on the same day, it stacks — a full 4×. Pick your day wisely.
Keeping Score
The Hall of Legacy now tracks a dedicated THE TRIALS section — Trials Won, Weekly Trials Conquered, Runes Claimed in Trial, and Keys Turned, career totals for every player. The Chronicle marks every trial win with its own cyan-accented entry, so a Trial victory reads differently from an ordinary day in the feed.
Notes & Tips
- You can't request a specific quest — the realm deals what it deals, and the Stretch Filter is the only lever tuning what shows up.
- A Key doesn't have to be used the day you find it. Save it for a day you know you'll be able to earn the reward.
- Watch the Notice Board — it's the only place the realm will tell you a drop is coming before it lands.
Something else stirs beyond the fog. The realm isn't finished with you yet.
