Flasks & Vigor
The Flask of Crimson Tears is your primary Vigor recovery tool. It restores a percentage of your max HP on use and replenishes when you Rest at Grace on a good day. You start with one Flask. A second unlocks permanently at Ember 70, and a third at Ember 150.
The Flask
Each Flask use restores 10% of your max Vigor by default. This scales with your Endurance stat — each Skill Point invested in Endurance adds 1% to Flask potency. At Endurance 10, each use restores 20% max Vigor.
| Endurance Level | Flask Restore |
|---|---|
| 0 | 10% max Vigor |
| 5 | 15% max Vigor |
| 10 | 20% max Vigor |
| 20 | 30% max Vigor |
Flask Count
Flask count is unlocked permanently by Ember milestones. These never go away — not on death, not on New Game Plus.
| Ember | Flask Count |
|---|---|
| 0–69 | 1 Flask |
| 70+ | 2 Flasks (permanent) |
| 150+ | 3 Flasks (permanent) |
Replenishing Flasks
Flasks replenish when you tap Rest at Grace on the Grace tab — every day, regardless of Grace level. Even on Flickering or Forsaken days, tapping Rest at Grace refills your Flask. The Vigor restore from Rest at Grace is what requires Blazing or Burning — the Flask refill is always available. Flask uses don't reset at 2am — they carry forward until you rest.
On death, your Flask is fully replenished automatically — no need to rest first before you can use it on respawn.
Vigor — Your HP
Vigor is your HP. Boss counterattacks drain it every night at 2am. If it hits zero, you die. Your max Vigor scales automatically as you level up, and can be further increased through Skill Point investment.
| Source | Vigor Gained |
|---|---|
| Starting max Vigor | 100 HP |
| Every level up (automatic) | +2 max Vigor |
| Vigor stat (Skill Point) | +4 max Vigor per point |
| Max at Level 50 (no Skill Points) | ~198 HP |
Vigor Recovery Sources
| Source | Amount | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Flask of Crimson Tears | 10%+ max Vigor | Any time — tap from Grace tab |
| Rest at Grace | 10% max Vigor | Blazing or Burning days only — active tap required |
| Site of Grace milestone | 10% max Vigor | Fires automatically every 10 Ember |
| Death / Respawn | 100% (full) | On respawn after death |
| Return of the Tarnished | 100% (full) | After 5+ day absence |
| Warming Stone (consumable) | +15% bonus on next Rest | Single use — must be Burning or better |
Emergency Flask
If you're out of Flask charges and in a critical Vigor situation, you can purchase an Emergency Flask for 25,000 Runes. It restores immediately on purchase and cannot be stored — it's consumed the moment you buy it. The purchase screen shows a HP recovery preview before you confirm.
Notes & Tips
- Don't save your Flask for a "worse situation." If Vigor is low and you have a charge, use it. Flask replenishes next time you tap Rest at Grace.
- Endurance investment is most valuable at high max Vigor levels. At Level 40 with strong Vigor stat investment, 10% Flask restore is a meaningful chunk of HP. At Level 5, it's less impactful.
- The second Flask at Ember 70 is one of the most significant quality-of-life upgrades in the game. It roughly doubles your daily recovery potential on good Grace days.
- Flask charges persist between days — if you don't use a charge, it carries over. You won't lose it at 2am. But it can be recharged every day when you Rest at Grace, so you might as well use it daily.
- Rest at Grace requires an active tap every day — it doesn't happen automatically overnight. Tap is daily to keep your flask charged.
