Sites of Grace
A Site of Grace is reached every time your Ember hits a new multiple of 10. When it fires, three things happen: your Ember floor is raised permanently, any active boss debuff is cleared, and you receive one reward item from the pool below. Every Site of Grace reward is an item, and each one arrives with a blessing — there are no flat Rune or Vigor rewards any more. Every Site of Grace also drops an enhanced loot item, richer the higher your Ember climbs.
Sites of Grace are the game's primary safety net. The further you've progressed, the less death can take from you.
What Happens at a Site of Grace
- Ember floor raised — your Ember can never fall below this new level on death. If you're at Ember 47 and hit a Site of Grace at 40, death can only drop you to 40 — not lower.
- Active debuff cleared — any current boss debuff is removed entirely.
- Reward item, with a blessing — one of seven items drawn randomly from the pool below. It is added to your Pouch and arrives with a blessing.
- Enhanced loot drop — every Site of Grace also drops a guaranteed item, with the rarity climbing as your Ember does (the table below lists every milestone). The milestones marked below still add their flask or title on top.
"You have found a Site of Grace. The light mends your wounds, and any curse upon you fades."
Reward Pool
Every Site of Grace draws one reward at random from this pool of seven items. Every reward is an item and arrives with a blessing; nothing in the pool is a flat Rune or Vigor reward. The odds below are not equal, and are set in the game's config, so the Game Master can retune them:
| Reward | Chance | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Hero's Rune | 20% | Instant 30,000 Runes when you use it |
| Grace Ward | 16.5% | Absorbs one Grace tier drop automatically — full mechanics on the Grace page |
| Lazuli Shard | 16.5% | Upgrades your next in-app loot drop one rarity tier |
| Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot | 15% | 2x Rune earnings next full day only |
| Key of the Realm | 15% | Unlocks one extra hidden quest for the day — see Trials of the Realm |
| Skill Point | 10% | +1 Skill Point to allocate |
| Lord's Rune | 7% | Instant 75,000 Runes when you use it |
Full item details are on the All Items page. A reward is added to your Pouch like any other item; the Grace Ward and Lazuli Shard are the two that fire on their own.
Enhanced Milestone Loot Drops
Every Site of Grace fires a guaranteed loot drop alongside the standard rewards. These scale in rarity as Ember grows, as the table shows.

Lazuli Shard
The Lazuli Shard is a special Site of Grace reward (the Cartkeeper can sell it too) that upgrades your next earned loot drop by one rarity tier — an Uncommon drop becomes Rare, a Rare becomes Legendary. If the drop was already Legendary, the Shard grants a bonus Rare item alongside it instead. Shards stack — drawing more than one banks them, and each upgraded drop consumes one. Your banked count is shown on your character card on the Grace tab.
Switching a Shard off. A banked Shard is ARMED — it fires on its own on your very next eligible drop — unless you tell it not to. Open the Shard from the Pouch, or tap its row on the Grace tab, and tap SWITCH OFF: an OFF Shard sits out every drop until you tap its ARM IT button, so the upgrade can wait for a boss kill instead of a Tuesday meal. The order covers the whole stack, shows as an ARMED or OFF chip on the Grace tab, and reverses with the same tap. New Shards always arrive armed.
Shards apply to loot drops earned from actions you take in the app — completing tasks, logging workouts and meals, and boss kills you land while playing. They do not apply to the automatic daily-login drop (that roll fires on its own when you open the app, and it passes a banked Shard by — your Shard is never spent on a drop you didn't play for), nor to drops the 2am engine rolls overnight: milestone enhanced drops, overnight boss-kill loot, and Near Victory consolation rolls all fire at their normal rarity and leave your Shards banked. A Shard is only consumed when a drop actually fires — it never burns on a failed roll.
Death and the Ember Floor
On death, Ember drops to your most recent Site of Grace floor. If you're at Ember 83 and die, you drop to 80. Each Site of Grace you reach permanently locks in that level as your minimum. This is why sustained consistency matters beyond the rewards — every 10 Ember is a checkpoint that death can't take past. See The Death System for full death mechanics.
Notes & Tips
- Sites of Grace fire automatically when your Ember crosses a threshold — there's nothing to tap or activate.
- The debuff clear is immediate and complete — any active boss debuff disappears when a Site of Grace fires, regardless of how many days were remaining.
- The seven rewards do not come up equally often: the Hero's Rune is the most common single reward at 20%, and the Lord's Rune the rarest at 7%. If you draw a Lazuli Shard, your next earned loot drop (a quest, workout, or meal drop) is upgraded. Don't forget it's pending.
- Flask unlocks at Ember 70 and 150 are permanent — they survive death and New Game Plus.
- Every Site of Grace gives you both the reward item and the enhanced loot drop — you always get both, every time.
