The Summoning

Your boss still stands. Someone else's has fallen, and their sign still glows.

The Summoning is co-op for your weekly boss. Once another player has slain their own weekly boss for the week, you can summon them to your fight: every night until your boss falls or the week ends, their day of effort strikes it for you. It costs them nothing and asks nothing of them. The price is paid by you, and only if they actually land a blow: half of your kill Runes.

It was JD's idea. It went live on September 30, 2026.

The Short Version
  • Summon a player whose own weekly boss is already dead this week.
  • Each night at 2am, their day's damage strikes your boss, up to 30% of its maximum health per night.
  • If they land a blow, they earn half of your kill Runes (or half of your near-victory Runes).
  • If they never land a blow, it costs you nothing.
  • One summons per boss, and it can't be taken back.

Who Can Be Summoned

Only a player whose own weekly boss has been slain this week can answer. It has to be the same boss week as yours. Their sign only appears on your card once their boss is dead, and if the game ever refuses a summons for this reason it says “[Name]'s boss still stands this week.” You can't summon yourself, and the boss you are summoning for has to still be alive with its week still running.

When a player slays their weekly boss, the kill card tells them so: “Your summon sign now glows on any hunt still standing.” That is the whole qualification. Nobody has to opt in, and nothing happens to a hunter who isn't summoned.

Making a Summons

A summons is made from the weekly boss card on the Quests tab. Whenever at least one player is ready to answer, a SUMMON SIGN appears on your card (or SUMMON SIGNS, with the note “Choose one”, when two players qualify). Each sign is a button reading Summon [Name], with the terms and two live numbers underneath: the most they can deal in a night, and what their half is worth at today's value.

  1. Tap the sign for the player you want. THE CONTRACT sheet opens, titled “Summon [Name]?”.
  2. Read the six terms: EVERY NIGHT, THE CAP, YOUR KILL, THE PRICE, IF NO BLOW LANDS and ONE ONLY. They say what this page says, with your own numbers filled in.
  3. Tap SUMMON [NAME] to seal it, or NOT NOW to walk away. Nothing changes until you confirm.

The cap and the share you saw on the sheet are frozen onto the summons the moment you tap, so the terms you accepted are the terms that run.

If the game refuses (their boss still stands, you already summoned someone, your boss has already fallen, or the week is over), the sign fades with a one-line reason.

The Nightly Strike

The strike happens at the 2am nightly run, once for each day of the summons, starting with the day you made it. It is dealt from your ally's own day's effort: every task, workout and meal they logged that day, counted the way their own damage always is, through their own weapon and build against your boss's weakness. They don't tap anything and they don't have to know. Sunday's strike lands in the Monday run, before the week is judged.

Your own quests keep striking the boss as always, and whoever lands the last blow, the kill is yours: if your ally's strike is the one that brings it down, it is paid to you as your kill, the normal way.

The Price: Half Your Kill

If your ally removed at least 1 health from your boss at any point in the week, they are owed half of your kill Runes. If the week ends with a Near Victory instead, they take half of your near-victory Runes. It is settled at the dawn after the fight ends (the Monday run, for a near victory).

The kill card shows the split under your Runes: who took what, and what you keep.

If Your Ally Never Lands a Blow

Then it costs you nothing. No blow all week means no share, whatever happens to the boss. The summons simply ends. There is no penalty, no debt and no other charge.

How Long It Lasts

A summons lasts from the tap until your boss falls or the week ends, whichever comes first. You get one summons per boss, to one ally, and it can't be taken back. The sheet tells you how many nights it will run if you summon today (up to four on a Thursday, three on a Friday, two on a Saturday).

Not to Be Confused With

This is a different thing from The Summons, the pre-launch ceremony where each player wrote their own oaths. And it has nothing to do with summoning the Cartkeeper with his Horn (see The Road).
