The Summons
For weeks, this wiki was permitted to say exactly one thing about The Summons: before the fog lifts, a summons will find each of you. The fog has lifted. The seal is broken. Here is what actually happened — and why your quest list looks the way it does.
What it was
In the final days of the fog, each player received a link. Behind it was a page with your name on it — a ceremony built for exactly three people: an opening rite in the realm's own voice, a tour of the lands you hadn't seen yet, and then the real business, presented as a Site of Grace with its rites laid out before you.
It looked like theater. It was actually the most important configuration screen in the entire game.
The Rites — what you were really doing
| Rite | What you wrote | What it became at launch |
|---|---|---|
| The Oaths | Your daily vows in three tiers, plus weekly quests — your own words, written from scratch | Your live task list. Every task on your Quests tab is an oath you swore, verbatim |
| Nourishment | Calorie and macro targets | Your live macro targets — the numbers the 2am engine judges your meals against |
| The Disciplines | Whether workouts and meal logging count for you at all | Your Day Quality Score components — switched on or off exactly as you chose |
| The Bond | Two small daily acts of care for your companion (companion-keepers only) | Your two daily companion-tending tasks |
Oaths pay the standard tier values — T1 400 T2 1,200 T3 1,250 Weekly 1,250 Bond 750 — multiplied by your Ember like everything else. The realm suggested counts (3–5 easy, 2–4 with intent, 3–5 hard, 3–4 weekly) but enforced almost nothing. What you swore is what you carry.
Every oath is a yes-or-no thing you can check off before bed. Not "be healthier." Not "do better." Make the bed. No fast food today. In bed by 10:30. The realm judges completed things, and so should you.
Placing the sign
Finishing the ceremony placed a gold summon sign — the realm's confirmation that your answers were received. Until the seal, every summons could be amended freely: "Rise again at the Stake of Marika — amend thine oaths until the fog lifts." Every edit saved itself. The stone remembers.
The three summonses were finished together, in person, during the preview weekend — coached, argued over, and in at least one case padded out from a suspiciously thin first draft. On the final night before launch, the oaths were sealed. The summons pages have since come down from the public site, and the last thing they ever said was one thing: the oaths are sealed.
The Harvest
On the night before launch, after the realm was wiped to true zero, a single script read every sealed summons and wrote it into the live game — tasks, targets, disciplines, bond — then verified, line by line, that what the database held matched what each player swore. Word for word. Your quest list was not designed by the Game Master. It was dictated by you, to a page with your name on it, and the realm took you at your word.
Can oaths change now?
Yes — this is a game about real life, and real life gets renegotiated. Task customization lives in Settings (add, edit, retire), and the Game Master reviews the realm's balance on a schedule. What you cannot do is re-open the summons page and quietly rewrite history. The sealed stones stay sealed; the record of what you first swore is permanent. Amend your habits in the app, like a person. The ceremony already did its job.
The Summons ran on its own hidden table with no public doors, behind per-player tokens, with server-side validation — and yes, it was security-audited by a rival intelligence, because of course it was. See Known Issues for that saga.
