Sites of Grace
A Site of Grace is reached every time your Ember hits a new multiple of 10. When it fires, three things happen: your Ember floor is raised permanently, any active boss debuff is cleared, and you receive one small rotating reward from the pool below — sometimes a Vigor restore, but not guaranteed. At key Ember thresholds, an enhanced loot drop also fires.
Sites of Grace are the game's primary safety net. The further you've progressed, the less death can take from you.
What Happens at a Site of Grace
- Ember floor raised — your Ember can never fall below this new level on death. If you're at Ember 47 and hit a Site of Grace at 40, death can only drop you to 40 — not lower.
- Active debuff cleared — any current boss debuff is removed entirely.
- Small rotating reward — one of six possible rewards drawn randomly from the pool below.
- Enhanced loot drop — at specific Ember milestones, a guaranteed loot drop of escalating rarity.
"You have found a Site of Grace. The light mends your wounds, and any curse upon you fades."
Small Reward Pool
Every Site of Grace draws one reward at random from this pool of six:
| Reward | Effect |
|---|---|
| Rune Bonus | 15,000 Runes awarded immediately |
| Vigor Restore | +10% max Vigor restored |
| Rune Earnings Boost | +10% all Rune earnings for 24 hours |
| Grace Ward | Absorbs one Grace tier drop automatically — full mechanics on the Grace page |
| Companion Mood Boost | +20 companion happiness immediately |
| Lazuli Shard | Upgrades your next in-app loot drop one rarity tier |
Enhanced Milestone Loot Drops
At key Ember thresholds, a guaranteed loot drop fires alongside the standard Site of Grace rewards. These scale in rarity as Ember grows.
| Ember | Enhanced Drop | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | Common | First milestone |
| 20 | Uncommon | |
| 50 | Rare + title "The Kindled" | Rune multiplier hits 1.40x |
| 70 | Rare + 2nd Flask permanently unlocked | Major milestone |
| 100 | Legendary + title "The Undying" | Rune multiplier hits 1.80x |
| 120 | Rare | |
| 150 | Legendary + 3rd Flask permanently unlocked + title "The Ever-Burning" | Major milestone |
| 170 | Legendary | |
| 200 | Legendary + title "The Flame Eternal" | The 2.4x multiplier cap was reached back at Ember 180 |
| 230, 260, 290… | Legendary | Every 30 Ember thereafter (seeded through 500) |
Lazuli Shard
The Lazuli Shard is a special small reward that upgrades your next earned loot drop by one rarity tier — an Uncommon drop becomes Rare, a Rare becomes Legendary. If the drop was already Legendary, the Shard grants a bonus Rare item alongside it instead. Shards stack — drawing more than one banks them, and each upgraded drop consumes one. Your banked count is shown on your character card on the Grace tab.
Shards apply to loot drops earned from actions you take in the app — completing tasks, logging workouts and meals, and boss kills you land while playing. They do not apply to the automatic daily-login drop (that roll fires on its own when you open the app, and it passes a banked Shard by — your Shard is never spent on a drop you didn't play for), nor to drops the 2am engine rolls overnight: milestone enhanced drops, overnight boss-kill loot, and Near Victory consolation rolls all fire at their normal rarity and leave your Shards banked. A Shard is only consumed when a drop actually fires — it never burns on a failed roll.
Death and the Ember Floor
On death, Ember drops to your most recent Site of Grace floor. If you're at Ember 83 and die, you drop to 80. Each Site of Grace you reach permanently locks in that level as your minimum. This is why sustained consistency matters beyond the rewards — every 10 Ember is a checkpoint that death can't take past. See The Death System for full death mechanics.
Notes & Tips
- Sites of Grace fire automatically when your Ember crosses a threshold — there's nothing to tap or activate.
- The debuff clear is immediate and complete — any active boss debuff disappears when a Site of Grace fires, regardless of how many days were remaining.
- The Lazuli Shard is the rarest small reward and the most valuable. If you draw one, your next earned loot drop (a quest, workout, or meal drop) is upgraded. Don't forget it's pending.
- Flask unlocks at Ember 70 and 150 are permanent — they survive death and New Game Plus.
- Every Site of Grace also gives the standard small reward in addition to the enhanced drop at milestone thresholds — you always get both.
